I won tickets to see Whitehorse at the Marquee on Friday night through the Dear Halifax Facebook page.  If you haven’t liked them yet, do it.  You can win stuff, like me! And learn cool things about our lovely city.  Go, do it now, then come back quickly.

Good.  Okay, you’re back.

Now, Jared and I had talked about going to Whitehorse when we learned they were coming (around the same time I heard about Dear Halifax’s contest!). I entered the contest and then we figured we could buy the tickets the day or two before if we didn’t win them, since we never seem to win anything.  Unfortunately we are the type of people that probably would have come home, made dinner, put on a Who and completely forget that we were going to go to a concert.  Especially on a Friday night after a long week.  We are far too predictable that way.

So needless to say I was pretty happy when I won the tickets, since that gave us a reason to remember to go!  A free date night, awesome!

And I am SUPER happy I went, because they were awesome!!  It was nice to learn the stories behind a couple of my favourite songs, like Emerald Isle which was written from the experience of Luke’s first marathon. Which is pretty cool, since I just signed up for my first marathon.  (I am seeing marathon stuff everywhere now!!)  But I digress…

It was also nice to see such a full house.  I haven’t been to the Marquee lately, but when we arrived late (honestly, we almost forgot!) it was a pretty crowded room.  Unfortunately, because it was a crowded room, I was stuck at the back for the most part and not able to move around as freely as I wanted, so my photos are not the best I could have done.  Add to that I was tired from a week of work so holding a camera steady at 11:30pm was a little difficult.  But I went to enjoy their amazing ‘space folk’ as they put it, (and I did enjoy it!) so the few photos I did happily achieve were just an added bonus for a nice night out.

If you ever get the chance to see Whitehorse live, do it!  They put on quite a show!!  Or go buy their album so they have a reason to keep making music and keep touring….that would be good also…

I’m heading to look at a location for my 365 of ‘13 halfway party tomorrow!

Here’s hoping it’s all I want it to be; otherwise we’ll be partying in my tiny apartment….and I think that would be just a little bit too cozy….
